A Natural taste for
life in the sun
In Bordeaux, the
vines love being able to see the river. Moreover, they particularly
like the well-exposed hillsides which provide them with maximum
sunshine, protection against frosts, and perfect drainage of rainfall.
It is easy to understand why the narrow strip of land stretching for
more than 60 kilometres overlooking the Garonne provides all the ideal
conditions for them to give full expression to their talent .

The
Premieres Cotes de Bordeaux region is situated on a limestone cliff,
covered by very pebbly soils on the top, with clayey-limestone soils
halfway down the hillside and fine gravel mixed with silica at the foot.
This diversity of soils, combined with a predominantly south-east
exposure, is prefectly suited to the expression of the leading Bordeaux
grape vaieties, and ensures that only fully ripe grapes are picked
every year.

The art of matching colour to natural talent
Whilst all Bordeaux
wines share the same noble grape varieties, it is the unique
combination of the vines, the soil and the climate that makes them
distinctive, that gives them their intrinsic character specific to each
terroir and each appelation
For the reds, the
Premieres Cotes de Bordeaux generally combine the qualities of three
main grape varieties :
The Merlot : which accounts for over half the area under vines. It
prefers the clayey-limestone soils. It brings the wine a generous
bouquet of small soft fruit, with unbeatable mellowness on the palate
The Cabernet Sauvignon : which has a predilection for gravely soils. It
gives the wines its tannic structure, enriching the aromas with spicy
touches.
The Cabernet Franc : planted in the limestone soil, brings remarkable
finesse and a subtle bouquet
