History :
Château la Gontrie was
created in 1984 by J. L. RIVES and his wife Nola (Australienne).
The
vine age ranges from 5 to 63 years with an average of 18 years-on land
traditionally used for wine growing. The use of modern techniques
together whith respect for ancient methods of viniculture assures the
production of a quality wine.
Geographical location :
Château la Gontrie is
situated 17 km east of BORDEAUX and 2 km north of the Garonne river.

- 8,5 hectares of Premières
Côtes de Bordeaux Red
and Clairet
- 1,5 hectare of Bordeaux
White Dry
- 1 hectare of Bordeaux Clairet
- 1 hectare of Premières
Côtes de Bordeaux Sweet

Soil :
Sloping land exposed to the south composed of limestone,
clay and gravel.
Type of Cepage (Vine variety) :
Red : 60% Merlot 20% Cabernet France, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon
Dry white : 90% Sauvignon Gris (Grey), 10% Semillon
Clairet : 100% Merlot
Sweet White : 100% Semillon
Agricultural Methods :
No chemical fertilizer is used, only organic manure .
Grass is kept between the rows.
Grape Harvest :
Our policy is to harvest as late as possible when the
grapes are full and ripe.
Vinification : 21 days at 28° maximum, no earth filtration
Storage : 50% of the red wine.is stored in three wine aged oak
casks
Oenlogue : Laboratory of Mr SANCHEZ.
Staff : 2 employees.
